Rajasthani henna is renowned for its superb quality.
This henna is from Sojat, Rajasthan which has an excellent desert climate for henna growing, producing excellent quality henna. Rajasthan is often referred to as "The Henna Capital of the World!"  Because this henna is also Soil Association Certified it makes it doubly high quality. Take a look at our customer's reviews here to confirm this.

This henna is suitable for hair colouring.  Henna will generally give brown hair red/brown undertones. Henna will give light coloured hair (grey, white or blonde) a more orange/red tone.  If you want Rajasthani Body Art henna click here...

Combining Henna with Indigo to get a reddish-brown, brown, or black shade
Using henna with indigo can create a range of shades from reddish brown to black. The resulting colour depends on the method you use, how long you leave the paste on for, and the proportion of henna and indigo you use. You can find our Certified Organic Indigo by clicking here.
There are 2 ways of using henna with indigo:
Method 1 (double application). First, dye your hair with henna so it goes auburn/red. Next, dye your hair with indigo, and the red will turn to brown. To achieve the desired shade you need to both get the right amount of indigo, and leave the indigo on for the right amount of time. The longer the indigo is left on for the darker it will be. If you leave it on the maximum time it can go black.
Method 2 (single application). Soak the henna over night. In the morning, when you are ready to dye your hair, mix the indigo with water. Thoroughly mix the henna mixture together with the indigo mixture. To get a more red-brown shade use a larger percentage of henna. To get a darker brown, use a larger proportion of indigo. To get a black shade use method 1.
Everyone’s hair is different and will take the colour differently so trial and error may be necessary to get the desired shade.
How much henna do you need
The following quantities are for average hair - if you have fine hair you will need less, or if you have thick hair you will need more:

Best henna I have used
Tuesday, 7 May 2019  |  Nicola

This Henna is amazing. Quite the beat I've used. It's so nice and easy to apply and not gritty like the other Henna's I've used. I used pure organics indigo anyway and mixed it with the henna before application, as I wanted a medium to dark brown finish. Unfortunately I didn't have quite enough indigo left so the finish is a little redder than what I wanted, as the grey hairs have gone more red. However, I did the application over a week ago and it's toning down now. My own fault as I should have checked I had more indigo. My hair which has no.grey is a gorgeous glossy dark brown with tons of red highlights. The condition feels amazing. Very pleased. Will not use any other henna now. I've been using henna for around 2 years now.

Switched to Suvana from Lush, really impressed.
Sunday, 3 March 2019  |  Heather

I've been a Caca Rouge user for 10 years, until disability made chopping and grating a solid bar too painful. I ordered Suvanas henna to try on my thick, waist length hair, particularly my darker roots. The henna arrived quickly and was simple to prepare, the instructions were clear.

Working with powder henna that didn't need heating was so much quicker and easier to apply, no lumpy mixture, burns or time spent trying to massage it through my hair. One pack coated my hair completely with enough to saturate my roots. I advise you *do* use gloves, a barrier cream and a spray bathroom cleaner afterwards as it dyes skin and the tub quickly. However it definitely doesn't have a heavy herbal smell, which is a plus.

I'm a convert, and will be using Survana henna from now on, it's a high quality henna that turns an arduous process into a pain free, quick dye job.

Try adding a little ginger or cardamom powder to the paste to mask the smell
