Our amla powder is super quality cSoil Association Certified Organic Symbolertified organic. It can be used used as a hair treatment for volume, shine and enhancing curls, or may be used as a toning facial scrub.

Benefits of Using Amla Paste on your Hair:

  • Increases shine and volume
  • Encourages hair growth
  • Enhances waves and curls, especially curls that have been loosened by henna
  • Leaves you hair and scalp feeling clean and healthy
  • Tones down the redness of the henna in a henna/indigo mix

How to Use Amla Paste on Your Hair
Amla paste is applied to your hair in the same way as henna is applied.  You can apply amla paste to your hair on its own, or you can mix it with other conditioning herbs and/or oils.  If you have dry hair you can add some vegetable oil to the paste   You can also add amla paste to your henna and indigo mix to help tone down the red of the henna, for a cooler, more ash-brown colour. Mixing the amla with only henna will not noticeably tone down the red of the henna – this only works with indigo.

The Benefits of Using Amla Paste on Your Skin:
Amla paste makes a very good exfoliating, toning facial scrub or facial mask. Amla powder has anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, and astirngent properties. The high levels of vitamin C in the amla powder help to break up the dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling smooth, toned and healthy.

How To Mix Amla Paste:
Mix with hot water to make a paste of the same consistency as yoghurt. Let it sit for 30 minutes before using.

Amla powder

I purchased this to use with henna. I'd heard henna can loosen you curl pattern so I added 2 tablespoons of amla to 100g henna. My curls are still alive and my hair is very soft and bouncy. Even my partner was amazed by the condition. I am going to try the amla on its own at some point but I'm truly happy with the results

I have taken the food grade amla before for health purposes but this was first time I used it for my hair. It left my hair feeling soft and well conditioned. Will use again and keep monitoring. I like it so far.

It would be nice to know when to apply and how. Is it preferable to use with the "It'sPure" color? If so, please let me know how to do this and how long to leave it on with the color.

Mixing with henna
Friday, 13 April 2018  |  Maja

I used it with henna because it supposedly makes it darker on hair and reduces the orange tones. I never used "real" henna alone so I'm not sure if it did the work. The color turned out a nice dark red on my light brunette hair though.

Recreating natural tones
Tuesday, 23 January 2018  |  Rebecca

Having tried henna and indigo in various proportions over last couple of years to cover grey temples in my otherwise dark brown hair, I felt the build up of near-Black was too harsh for my aging skin tone. After some research I decided to mix 40% henna and 20% each of amla, cassia and indigo. Result : a beautiful rich flattering chestnut that covers the grey, blends in and leaves my hair in soft, glossy condition. The colour took about 3 days to settle to its current tone. Will continue - very happy, and the very dark ends will grow out with regular trims.
