Soil Association certified organic henna poSoil Association certified productwder and indigo powder from India with no other plants added.  This henna and indigo can be combined to make a brown/red, brown or black shade.

The henna and indigo are separately packed in vacuum sealed plastic bag so that they stay fresh.

This henna is suitable for hair colouring. When used on its own it gives orange/red tone but when combined with indigo it gives a variety of shades.

The indigo (indigofera tinctoria) is a blue/green tint and is best used together with or just after henna.

Combining Henna with Indigo to get a red/brown, brown or a black shade

When henna is used with indigo it can give shades of different browns to black. The resulting colour depends on which method you use, how long you leave the dye on for, and the proportion of henna and indigo you use.

Method 1 (double application): Dye your hair first with henna so it goes auburn/red, then dye your hair with indigo, so that the auburn/red turns to brown. To achieve the desired shade, you need to make sure you leave the indigo on for the right amount of time. The longer the indigo is left on for, the darker it will be. If you leave it for the maximum time it can go black.

Method 2 (single application): Soak the henna in some acidic liquid such as lemon juice. When you are ready to colour your hair mix the indigo with water, then thoroughly mix the henna mixture together with the indigo mixture. To get a more reddish-brown shade, use a large percentage of henna. To get a darker brown, use a larger proportion of indigo. To get a black shade use Method 1.

Everyone’s hair is different and will take the colour differently, so some trial and error may be necessary to get the desired shade.

How much henna and indigo do you need
The amounts given below are for average hair - if you have fine hair you may need less, or if you have thick hair you may need more. The amounts given are for the total amount of powder needed for one application.
short / chin length hair - 50 to 70 gms per application
shoulder length hair - 100 to 120 gms per application
mid back length hair - 200 to 250 gms per application

If you are mixing henna and indigo in one single application (Method 2), the combined weight of the two powders should be what is given in the above guidlines.

Everyone's hair is different so it is good to experiment to find the best method for your hair.

Brilliant products
Wednesday, 16 August 2017  |  Patricia

I have been using these products for the past 4 years.

They are such great quality and are now part of the staple natural hair products I use. I stopped chemically treating my hair four years ago and needed a hair dye to replace Bigen which started causing irritation of my skin.

I haven't looked back since.

Not only does the Henna colour my hair beautifully but the indigo helps me to achieve the right tone of colour. I no longer have to worry about suffering any allergic reaction to hair dyes and it's natural which is better for the condition and health of my hair.

Thank you for taking the time to produce such quality products and at affordable prices. They last me quite a while too.

I used to use Body Shop henna, then Lush's, then Surya cream, then a cheaper one from eBay. As I get greyer have found I needed to use the cream more often and my grey is too coppery with it so I thought I'd try this one as I could then control the amount of indigo and perhaps give more depth. Very happy with product and results. I mixed the henna with lemon juice and left it overnight, then added indigo the next day. Easy to mix and not as lumpy or messy as other brands. I found it clung well to my hair when applying, even when I squidged it into the roots. Other brands seem to fall off in lumps but the texture of this one was different. I covered with a plastic bag and left it on for seven hours. Rinsed out easily and I shampooed once and conditioned. No blue/black bathtub stains that I had anticipated from the indigo and my hair didn't feel too dry either. First glance at my wet roots and they appeared coppery, but they looked fine when dry. As I had been warned from the instruction sheet, the colour did deepen over the day to a richer, deeper shade. Very pleased with it and I've had compliments on the shine too. Will use again.

Excellent hair dyeing products
Tuesday, 20 June 2017  |  Margaret

I've used the organic henna and indigo powders for a while now to cover a small amount of grey in mid to dark brown fine hair. This works well although I have to be careful not to leave the indigo on for too long otherwise I look a bit "Goth". The powders used in combination, either together or better separately, seem to have a conditioning effect on my hair which is tending to go a bit frizzy without this treatment.

Great Products! my hair feels so soft and shinny!
Tuesday, 25 April 2017  |  Anne

Great advice from the website. The recipes are easy to follow and not as messy as I first thought. I do have long hair so my daughter helped me to apply the paste to cover all those wiry white hair. The hair feel really soft and shinny and the colour did develop a little deeper over the next couple of days. The white hair coverage is not as good but those are much more blended in now. This was only the first application, so I can see that with further application the colour will deepen. I highly recommend and don't understand why there isn't one hair dresser out there that specialise in natural treatment!

Brilliant product fantastic results
Tuesday, 14 March 2017  |  Layla

Fast delivery with great information sheets included. As I have short hair I started with 50g henna and 40g indigo this made a very rich chocolate Brown, I will prob use less indigo next to get a redder result.
I have been complimented on how shinny my hair is and my hair condition seems much improved, and the colour is lasting really well not much fading at all. Most of all its great to know the colour has been achieved through the use of no chemicals. Completely converted! Thanks

henna hair powder
Wednesday, 18 January 2017  |  M

I was a bit concerned because the packet never said body art quality also the powder was not as bright in colour but I tried it anyway and it was just the same result so I am very happy. Is there any difference between them as I was informed to use the body art quality to cover stubborn grey hair .

Henna And Indigo
Friday, 13 January 2017  |  June

I love using henna and indigo mixed together, it gives me the perfect result, which is dark brown. After mixing henna with lemon juice it is left over night, then I mix the indigo next morning then pour it into the henna with one organic egg. It will rest for 5 minutes, then I put it on my hair and sleep with it over night to cover the few grays I have. Next morning my hair is rinsed and shampooed, It leaves my hair really soft and no grays.
