So happy I found this product. I used to be a hairdresser but became very allergic to hair dye. Do for over 20 years Iíve only been able to have bleach highlights on my mousey hair. Now I have quite a lot of grey on the top. I tried elumen which is made of different chemicals and I wasnít allergic but it didnít work well on the greys. So I found Ďitís pureí. done a patch test and a strand test, all good. First time I did golden blonde, panicked about the green colour as I still have bleached highlights, so washed it off after 45 mins. It gave my hair a golden sheen and slightly darkened the blonde bits, grey was blended in. Next time I went for it with natural Brown, left for 2.5 hours and itís worked really well. Itís all blended to a nice golden brown, a bit lighter where the blonde was, greys are not noticeable unless you look really closely in bright light where they look golden blonde. So it all looks very natural and feels great. At last I have options!!! My fringe that was very blonde did have the green tinge at first, perfectly acceptable colour after a few hours and a lovely brown after a day or so, so do it on a day you donít need to go out if you are going from light to dark, but itís worth it.
Iíve recently switched to using the Natural Brown, after using the original but lengthy 2-step method of applying Its Pure natural henna, and then indigo paste in order to obtain a brown colour. Iím about to travel abroad for several months and need a simpler way of covering my roots. Ive used the first method for quite a few years and itís been good. However the downside to this process is that the colour tends to build up on the lengths and become too dark. The natural brown is a softer colour for me and, although Iíve only done it a couple of times so far, Iím pleased with the result. Iíll keep cutting the lengths as it grows until the dark colour has grown out!
I'm afraid I had a problem with this product. When I had put it on my hair the fumes gave me a pain in my bronchial tubes. My husband and his friend were there and they both said they felt wheezy as well. They are both asthmatic. There were no warnings that people might be allergic to the fumes, only that skin might be allergic to it.
I had to leave it on for two hours instead of three, as it hurt my chest. It did improve the colour and condition of my hair afterwards, and made the colour more even. Before that it was a dull colour at the top and had the remains of a blonde dye on the ends that I had put on nine months before. My hair reacts very strongly to chemical dyes and retains them for months and months.
Initally this colour was almost black. I put it on fine dark hair for 1hr. 15 mins. I did not like the colour it was dark and heavy, however it did cover my grey roots. After three weeks a warm golden colour shone through which is now a lovely colour. I like it, perhaps the chestnut colour next time as it is not so dark initially. My hair is healthy and glossy.
If you have grey roots and already dyed hair on the length it is best just to put the hair colour on the grey roots and not put it all over your hair. This avoids the colour going to dark on the length.
I have been using this product for over 12 months, I suddenly became allergic to hair dye. I tried every kind of colour. My hairdresser did not know what i could use, so i researched and came across this site. You have been a life saver, i love my hair and had i not been able to colour it.......disaster would have struck. Yes the produce is messy to use, but the results are great. I usually use the product every 4 weeks, but you could go longer. It is a bit smelly but once you have washed your hair a couple of times the smell disappears. For someone who is thinking what am i going to do, trust me, this product with work.
