Suitable for darkening blonde to medium brown hair, or grey hair.

The likely colour outcome on different hair colours.

On white hair this hair colour may be medium to dark brown.

On medium to dark blonde hair it may be a dark brown shade.

On medium to dark brown hair it may be a very dark brown to black shade.

If your hair is a salt-and-pepper mix of brown and white, then the overall effect will average out, with the white hair going lighter brown and the brown hair going darker brown.

Repeated applications will build up a darker shade.

The true colour takes a few hours to develop

When you first wash out the colour it will often not be the full depth of colour but it will gradually darken to its true colour

If you have used henna and indigo before you will understand that after washing it off your hair it takes time for the colour to oxidise on your hair.  It can be likened to a cut apple - at first it the apple is white and then as it oxidises in the air it goes brown.

If the you have a lot of grey hair and it appears to be have a green tinge at first, don’t worry - this will fade gradually over a few hours or days, as the dye oxidises and the colour darkens.

Strand Testing
If it is the first time you have used this hair colour we strongly recommend doing a strand test first before putting the dye all over your hair, because the colour can be different on different people’s hair. We also recommend waiting 24 hours after the strand test to see how the colour develops, because the colour oxidises over time and darkens.

Although we do our best to formulate this hair colour so that you get a good colour, we cannot guarantee the colour because everyone’s hair is different and will take the colour slightly differently.

There may also be slight variations in colour result between different batches of Herbal Hair Colour, due to the nature of the plant ingredients which are affected by varying climatic conditions from year to year.

To avoid an unexpected colour result we recommend you strand test a small section of your hair before applying It’s Pure Herbal Hair Colour to your entire head of hair.

Chemically lightened hair may react differently.

If your hair has been chemically lightened with peroxide this will affect the colour result. It can make your hair more porous and thus absorb the colour in an unpredictable way. So it is especially important to strand test the bleached hair before putting it all over your hair.

Simple to use with good results
Friday, 29 May 2020  |  Kem

I have been using the 'Very dark brown' hair dye for about a year on my thick afro textured hair, and I love it. It's much easier to use than the traditional henna/indigo application mix and the results are much the same. If you want your hair to continue getting darker-black colour over time, use the dye on your whole head every application. I only use it on my new growth now which is grey/brown and it gives me a deep brown colour with medium brown highlights(on my greys).

I will always continue to use this product and recommend it to anyone looking for a natural alternative to chemical hair dyes. Thank you for making this product available.

I've been using this for a few years but i seem to be doing it twice a month because of my grey,do these hair dyes contain metalic salts as I want to have highlights because I can go an extra dew more weeks before dying it again,I have checked and it says not so I don't need to strip the henna out do i

Easy to use and effective
Monday, 27 January 2020  |  Dee

I just wanted to cover grey strands amongst my black hair, not change my overall hair colour. I have never used henna dye or any hair colourant before. Instructions for mixing the powder were easy to follow as was application, gloves and plastic cap are provided in the pack. I left the mixture on my hair for 4 hours. My greys were covered, not a very dark brown colour but reddish, which gave my hair a highlighted effect. The rest of my hair being black did not change of course, I am happy with the result for a first use. I understand that continued use may increase the depth of dark brown colour on my greys, and if I want I can then use a black henna dye to get it all black, as the advice is that if you use black as a first step you will probably turn grey or white hairs blue due to the high indigo content in black henna, so I needed to use the very dark brown initially. I will see and possibly update later.

Great product
Wednesday, 22 May 2019  |  Eleanor

Being unable to use conventional hair dyes due to allergy/sensitivity, this product is a god send. This covers grey well and the colour result is lovely as itís tonal depending on the colour of each strand of hair to begin with. Yes it is a pain to have to keep it on for 4 hours each time you do it (about every 5 weeks), and it has quite an unusual smell, but thatís a small price to pay in my opinion.
Delivery on this was quick and the price good.

Excellent Product
Friday, 29 March 2019  |  Ela

I have been using normal dye without ammonia for years. I then developed a reaction to PPD. I was very upset as I tried other products that said they were natural and were not!!
I then came across this product it is excellent have not had no itchiness on scalp. I do have to keep it on for 4 hours to get the best result. The very dark brown does cover my greys. It does take a bit getting use to but worth the effort!!

Ooh my god
Thursday, 19 October 2017  |  Karen

Thought I'd try the dark brown on my sisters hair as she is having treatment at the mo and can't use chemical colourants. Put it on the roots disappointing coverage. And a horrid green tinge. Never in my 40 yrs hairdressing have I come across this. Not at all impressed.

Oh dear, don't worry, the green tinge should go gradually over a day or two as it oxidises (as it says in the instructions). The darker colours have a higher indigo content and this is what gives a risk of it having green tinge at first, but indigo doesnt stay green. Even if the green didnt go then you could always put another herbal colour on top with more red/henna in it. Generally for stronger grey coverage you leave the paste on for a longer time or do a 2nd application.
You would not normally have this experience with chemical dyes as they work differently and are more controllable.

Pure organics very dark brown
Thursday, 12 October 2017  |  Sandra

I've been using this product for some time due to an allergic reaction to normal hair coulrants.
I have to use the product twice to get the darker shade, but I'm very grey. It can be a bit time consuming, but the end result is worth it.
