The henna and indigo are separately packed in vacuum sealed plastic bag so that they stay fresh.

This henna is suitable for body art or for hair colouring. Body art henna is excellent for colouring hair  as it is more finely sifted it has a smoother less gritty texture.

The indigo (indigofera tinctoria) used for hair colouring is a blue/green tint and is best used together with or just after henna.

Combining Henna with Indigo to get a red/brown, brown or a black hair colour
When henna is used with indigo it can give shades of different browns to black. The resulting colour depends on which method you use, how long you leave the dye on for, and the proportion of henna and indigo you use.

Method 1 (double application): Dye your hair first with henna so it goes auburn/red, then dye your hair with indigo, so that the auburn/red turns to brown. To achieve the desired shade, you need to make sure you leave the indigo on for the right amount of time. The longer the indigo is left on for, the darker it will be. If you leave it for the maximum time it can go black.

Method 2 (single application): Soak the henna over night. In the morning, mix the indigo with water, then thoroughly mix the henna mixture together with the indigo mixture. To get a more reddish-brown shade, use a large percentage of henna. To get a darker brown, use a larger proportion of indigo. To get a black shade use Method 1.

Everyone’s hair is different and will take the colour differently, so some trial and error may be necessary to get the desired shade.

Excellent product to cover grey.
Sunday, 20 May 2018  |  Rose

Really excellent henna and indigo 80/20 mix covers my 70% grey absolutely and I only leave it on for 2hrs. As advised I add a little cider vinegar to henna mix and leave it in a warm place for 2hrs then add the indigo & apply.. I started using because I became allergic to hair dye. This is 100% natural and even my sensitive skin likes it. I end up with the most gorgeous dark red colour and the condition is amazing. It also seems to have added volume. So pleased. Highly recommended. Suvarna are also very nice to do business with. A very good company. Thank you.

Highly recommended

I stumbled across this website whilst researching natural hair colourants after having had an allergic reaction to a chemical dye even though I had been used it for years. I have used the Indigo and Henna twice now and I am really pleased with the results. It has totally covered my greys and I will definitely be ordering this product again.

Good but do the whole ritual every two weeks ...
Wednesday, 1 November 2017  |  Smita

I have been using this for a while now and yes the colour is good . However I am getting fed up of doing it every two weeks. it's a long process as to do the two method process - henna one day and indigo the next .
I am grey mainly on the parting line and this is the worst as it starts fading after the two weeks and the copper starts showing.
Is there any way to keep the color longer as I am seriously consider going back to maybe a longer lasting dye ? Any thoughts ?

Excellent quality and great results.
Sunday, 3 September 2017  |  Alice

I bought Henna, Indigo and Cassia to make a mix to cover my greying roots. My hair had been previously dyed by the hairdresser with a light coppery brown. I prepared a mix of 50% henna 30% cassia and 20% indigo with warm water and I applied straightaway it to my hair for 3 hours. This blend managed to cover my few greys in a caramel shade, which looked a bit light to start with but then darkened up after about 48 hours. It also added a lovely coppery brown gloss to the rest of my hair. Next time I may tryv to increase both the henna and indigo by 5% and decrease the cassia by 10% to achieve a slightly darker shade on my roots. So far I am really happy with the quality of the herbs and with the results.
