WHEN AND HOW TO TREAT YOUR HAIR NATURALLY From time-to-time, even the best cared for hair needs something extra, be it a colour treatment or a deep condition. Most hair-types benefit from weekly or even just monthly nourishment for added shine, and to prevent breaking and colour fade. The treatments best suited to you depend on your hair type: AFRO HAIR: Whilst thick and often coarse, Afro hair is also prone to dryness, becoming frizzy and breaking very easily if not conditioned regularly. Organic conditioners can help to add shine, improve the look of coils and deepen colour density. DAILY: We recommend using a daily nourishing oil, with ingredients like Argan Oil and Rose which are both nurturing and soothing for the scalp. WEEKLY: Try a deeper conditioner with Cassia (sometimes called colourless henna). It has antimicrobial properties which deep cleanse the follicles, deepens colour and encourages hair growth whilst adding shine. COLOURED HAIR: Coloured hair is more porous and needs lots of nurturing to stay vibrant and shiny. DAILY: Applying a light hair oil to the ends of the hair only can help prevent drying on hair that is longer and coloured. WEEKLY: An organic colour conditioner with ingredients like Burdock can help to prevent colour fade and keep the hair follicles smooth. SENSITIVE SCALPS: Those with a sensitive, flakey or itching scalp need to use the gentlest natural hair ingredients to maintain the hairs balance. Lots of people like the no poo method of hair care for the best results, and organic reetha (soap nuts) is a perfect ingredient choice. GREY HAIR: Hair that is greying needs regular care to maintain a silvery hue and to avoid becoming brittle or wiry. Daily use of a hair oil through the ends is an ideal way to protect the follicles, and the Ayurvedic approach using the herb Bhringraj has shown excellent results in nourishing ageing hair and slowing the greying process down. LONG/THICK HAIR: Long hair, especially if it is thicker, is harder to care for and needs a more regular approach to maintain a healthy look. We recommend a leave-in conditioner after washing to protect, always using a heat protective spray if styling and once a week deep conditioner with an organic conditioner containing wheat germ which strengthens hair from root-to-tip.
