Rajasthani henna is renowned for it's excellent quality. This henna is suitable for body art and for hair colouring.  It is the most finely ground henna, mixing to the smoothest paste, without any grittiness.

Henna will generally give brown hair red/brown undertones. Henna will give light coloured hair (grey, white or blonde) a more orange/red tone.

Combining Henna with Indigo to get a reddish-brown, brown, or black shade
Using henna with indigo can create a range of shades from reddish brown to black. The resulting colour depends on the method you use, how long you leave the paste on for, and the proportion of henna and indigo you use. You can find our Certified Organic Indigo by clicking here.

There are 2 ways of using henna with indigo:

Method 1 (double application). First, dye your hair with henna so it goes auburn/red. Next, dye your hair with indigo, and the red will turn to brown. To achieve the desired shade you need to both get the right amount of indigo, and leave the indigo on for the right amount of time. The longer the indigo is left on for the darker it will be. If you leave it on the maximum time it can go black.

Method 2 (single application). Soak the henna over night. In the morning, when you are ready to dye your hair, mix the indigo with water. Thoroughly mix the henna mixture together with the indigo mixture. To get a more red-brown shade use a larger percentage of henna. To get a darker brown, use a larger proportion of indigo. To get a black shade use method 1.

Everyone’s hair is different and will take the colour differently so trial and error may be necessary to get the desired shade.

I have been using henna from suvarna for at least two years. This product is what I always use because it it consistently fantastic. I have recommended it too all my friends & wouldn't hesitate to encourage anyone else to use it. Tricia is very professional & delivery is always prompt & extremely reliable. If there were more stars to give I would give the maximum every time.

Long lasting colour and amazing shine
Wednesday, 16 October 2013  |  Nina

I love this Henna! Ever since having a severe allergic reaction to chemical hair dye I have used this product. I find that the colour doesn't fade, like chemical dyes, in fact I have only just coloured my hair for the 4th time this year whereas with chemical dyes I would be colouring every 6 weeks max, now it's every 3 months. Everyone compliments the colour and how shiny it is and I am so pleased to find a safe, natural way to dye my hair. Thank you

Simply beautiful

I get lots of comments on how beautiful the colour of my hair is. Henna is a bit messy and time consuming but I don't have to worry about the harmful effects of chemicals on my skin and in the water that goes down the plug whole.

Soft, shiny and variegated colours
Monday, 19 August 2013  |  G

I trained as a chemist and have never used dyes on my hair. I used to use henna years ago and had been wanting to use it again for some time, because of the way it makes hair shine but was unable to find a salon to do it for me; having long hair I would not do it for myself. My friend had been told by a dermatologist that she must never use chemical based dyes again, and the plan to henna was born of that. Remembering how heavy it was I made it up thick the night before. 500g henna, 500 ml lemon juice and 1200ml water, as I once had an experience of a salon running out part way through. We used about 80% of that. My hair is very thick and hip length. A week on I am still watching the colour develop from a rather disconcerting orange where my hair had turned white to a nice auburn blended with darker shades of mahogany where my hair colour was reddish brown.

We didn't use the indigo, and now, a week later I'm glad we didn't as the colour is not too bright.

I do plan to use the Amla at some point in the future, but at the moment my hair is already softer and shinier.

amazing colour

I am delighted to have found this product. since i developed an allergy to a well known salon brand of hair colour I thought I would have to embrace the grey. Yes it is messy to use but I soon got used to it and mixed with a proportion of indigo my hair is a beautiful shiny and healthy chestnut colour.
The service from survana is quick and efficient and they provide very clear instructions on its use

Fabulous!
Monday, 27 May 2013  |  Sarah

I've only just started using henna on my hair, and I wish I'd discovered it years ago! I'm so pleased with the colour, which has produced a richer and longer-lasting red than any chemical dye has ever done. My grey hairs came out a very bright coppery colour, but after rinsing out the henna I slapped some indigo on the grey areas, left it about 15 minutes, and this toned it down to a warm brown colour. Miraculously there's now not a grey hair in sight. While you have to be patient with it (it took me 1.5 hours to apply, and I left it on for another 6 hours), it's well worth the effort. Very pleased!
