Rajasthani henna is renowned for it's excellent quality. This henna is suitable for body art and for hair colouring.  It is the most finely ground henna, mixing to the smoothest paste, without any grittiness.

Henna will generally give brown hair red/brown undertones. Henna will give light coloured hair (grey, white or blonde) a more orange/red tone.

Combining Henna with Indigo to get a reddish-brown, brown, or black shade
Using henna with indigo can create a range of shades from reddish brown to black. The resulting colour depends on the method you use, how long you leave the paste on for, and the proportion of henna and indigo you use. You can find our Certified Organic Indigo by clicking here.
There are 2 ways of using henna with indigo:
Method 1 (double application). First, dye your hair with henna so it goes auburn/red. Next, dye your hair with indigo, and the red will turn to brown. To achieve the desired shade you need to both get the right amount of indigo, and leave the indigo on for the right amount of time. The longer the indigo is left on for the darker it will be. If you leave it on the maximum time it can go black.
Method 2 (single application). Soak the henna over night. In the morning, when you are ready to dye your hair, mix the indigo with water. Thoroughly mix the henna mixture together with the indigo mixture. To get a more red-brown shade use a larger percentage of henna. To get a darker brown, use a larger proportion of indigo. To get a black shade use method 1.
Everyone’s hair is different and will take the colour differently so trial and error may be necessary to get the desired shade.
How much henna do you need
The following quantities are for average hair - if you have fine hair you will need less, or if you have thick hair you will need more:
short / chin length hair - 50 gms henna
shoulder length hair - 100 gms henna
mid back length hair - 200gms henna

Great quality
Wednesday, 13 July 2016  |  Katy

First time customer of survarna, although I've been using henna on and off for 20 years.
Shipping and devlivery was prompt and excellent communication on purchase.
Henna arrived well packaged and included an instruction sheet, which was clever and easy to understand if you haven't used henna before.
Henna itself was wrapped in a secure sealed foil packet, and then again in a clear packet inside - no leaks likely here!
Henna was very finely sifted and mixed up easily. Some lumps but smoothed out in final mix before application.
Dye release was quick, I actually forgot to mix up night before but no issues after a couple of hours!
Paste applied smoothly, for me this was just a touch up to my roots, not a whole head application. After 2 hours rinsing out took a normal amount of time, on drying the colour was a very bright copper on my lighter hair. This oxidised down very quickly by 24 hours.
Overall a high quality baq henna, with quick dye release and good depth of colour, at a very reasonable cost and quick shipping. See you in 6-8 weeks for my next order!

It is only a little ...

... henna that I use.
Impressed with the fast delivery and I like the product. I have been using henna for over 10 years (different one) but now trying to change my whites into a light gold/ blondy tone with Cassia and it seems to work. I use it with a little henna and hope that applying it repeatedly will make the Cassia stick eventually for weeks to come. Will order more. Thank you!

5 Star Henna
Monday, 18 April 2016  |  Carly

Easy to mix to a super smooth consistency (just lemon juice and green tea, plus a whisk). Easy to apply with almost no mess (tinting brush). A breeze to rinse out (a little conditioner after the water runs clear ensures it's all gone).

My hair is fabulously conditioned - stronger but supple at the same time and shiny! And my greys are covered in a glorious copper. My hair has never felt and looked this good. Delivery always prompt: ordered it on Thursday, received it on Saturday. This is the only place Iíll be buying my henna. Thanks guys!

Good experience
Monday, 1 February 2016  |  Lyndsay

My first time using pure henna and I'm very pleased with the results and will be using it again. My colour started out incredibly harsh and brassy but took about a week to deepen quite a bit. On my medium brown hair, the auburn tint I get actually looks completely natural and almost brown in dim indoor light. I'm still having trouble rinsing everything out (have dirtied too many towels even a few washes later) but my hair is in good condition and very, very shiny. I did use basically a half bottle of conditioner to rinse it out though. It slightly loosened my curls but not by much, I will be buying again!

Lovely colour and conditions hair
Monday, 27 April 2015  |  Claire

I recently developed an allergy to the chemical hair dye I've used for years and was looking for a less harmful solution but I still wanted a nice red colour. I was not disappointed.

This dye gives a lovely coppery glow to my natural brunette and a quite vibrant auburn highlight to my grey bits. It has also left my hair in lovely condition and I would highly recommend it.

The only downside is that there is definitely a technique to using the Henna and not getting in a complete mess and I'm afraid to say that after 2 attempts I've still not fully mastered it!

That said I have managed to get the Henna to activate quite easily to get a strong colour by mixing about 2tbsps lemon juice with water to make the consistency recommended in the pack. I cover it with clingfilm and place it near a radiator overnight. The next day I check the liquid that's separated off and if it's orange then it's good to go.

Best Henna
Tuesday, 21 April 2015  |  Diane

I am absolutely delighted with this henna.I have used henna for years and years and have had quite a few good ones. However the ease that this went on my hair was incredible and left no mess.Had to get used to preparing it the day before and using my organic lemon juice to mix.The results though are stunning and no horrible smell!

Excellent henna
Wednesday, 15 April 2015  |  Susan

I use a teaspoon of this with 2 of indigo as a 'tea' rinse once a month, to stave off the beginnings of grey.
It works well, giving a subtle lift, gives shine and smells lovely.
